Google Drive Privacy Screen Offers Extra Protection for Users

The latest update released for Google Drive iOS and iPadOS applications offer a new feature called “Privacy Screen” to users that enhances the security and protects data on the devices.
With this feature, those who open Google Drive on iPhone or iPad may be required to verify with Face ID or Touch ID. Users can thus protect important business documents and sensitive personal files from prying eyes.

Users can set the Privacy Screen to be activated as soon as they return to Google Drive from other applications if they wish. However, those who do not want a continuous verification process can delay displaying this screen for 10 seconds, 1 minute, or 10 minutes. Thus, the multitasking process becomes a little more comfortable.

It should be noted that the Privacy Screen does not provide "100% security". In the settings screen where this feature is activated, Google has warned that the Privacy Screen may not provide protection for notifications to Drive, certain Siri functions, files shared with the Files the app, photos shared with the Photos app, and “other system functions”.

According to the Digital Trends report, this was the first sign last month for the Google Drive feature. However, in the notes of the last update published for the application, the existence of this feature is clearly mentioned. This extra protection feature, which comes after Google Drive's short-time password protection feature, seems to provide comfort to the users.
